In the early game, it is the only source of guranteed damage.

If you have a weakened trooper vs a full HP captain, that trooper could get a lucky shot and kill one of your soldiers. There are exceptions, but for almost all encounters, you want to make sure that you work on eliminating enemies based on HP remaining over threat level, unless it is necessary. In the case of prioritizing targets, you want to ensure that the less enemies, almost in all cases, the better. If you just sit in one cover spot every turn and only shoot, you will die quickly. Keep people alive by maximizing cover bonuses and prioritizing targets. However, some units don't use cover, and naturally have immunity to flank bonuses. A flank is when a unit has direct line of sight to an enemy unit, with no cover in between. So hiding should only be relevant if A) I don't have any other possible assignment in that haven and B) If I'm bringing too much attention to myself.-If you're legitimately a newbie, dont start on vereran. It makes sense, the games really gives you that sense that you're playing a guerrilla, just it should have given a heads up. Lol yeah, took me a while to realize that the random drops of supplies were the ones from the incomes (when I thought it was a bug that made the game not deposit the supplies straight in. The game does a poor job of detailing Haven administration Like (well just an idea for now since I haven't reached that far) is only soldier with high intelligence getting far in the cahin of command or assigning abilities based on mission performance. Another stuff that kinda hinders me but I do not mind is that I roleplay this a lot. But soldiers do this job best, especially if they are high rank and/ or an officer. Having a Haven advisor also improves your odds of determining which resistance personnel, if any, are actually Faceless, actively sabotaging that Haven's operations on behalf of Advent. Making a scientist a Haven advisor will improve the effectiveness of any personnel assigned to Intel in that Haven. Personally, I don't see much point in assigning resistance personnel to Hiding unless you have so many personnel in one Haven that you can afford to do so, or because Advent's vigilance is so high in that region that it's necessary for the other personnel to do their real job effectively.įinally, assigning a Haven advisor multiplies the effectiveness of the associated task. When possible, try to have each Haven fully dedicated to a single task, usually Intel early on, to get through the chain of Liberation missions in that region while Advent is weakest, and switching to Supplies or Recruit as you need once that region becomes safer.
In other words, mixing and matching personnel on all four tasks within the same Haven is the least efficient thing you can possibly do. Assigning four people to the same task is more than twice as effective as assigning only two of them to that same task. In simple terms, you can assign resistance personnel to collect Intel, which affects the rate at which Intel is earned and the likelihood of detecting more missions in that region, earlier Supplies, which just boosts your total income at the end of each month Recruit, which increases the rate at which new soldiers become available for you to conscript from the "Recruit" screen and Hiding, which reduces the chances of Advent sabotaging or retaliating in the various ways available to them, either against your resistance personnel in the Haven, or on missions in that region.Īlso, the gains made by resistance personnel are exponential. The game does a poor job of detailing Haven administration.
You'll inevitably fail to detect at least some Dark Events before they are completed, but if you aren't detecting most of them before it's too late, you may want to consider devoting more effort to gathering Intel. You are probably waiting way too long to liberate regions, allowing Advent's strength in those areas to skyrocket. I don't know the guy personally, but I'm happy to give him some exposure here since these quick and dirty guides taught me more about the nuts and bolts of LWOTC than hours of reading forum posts did.
